The Extreme Barcelona is synonymous of Skateboarding, BMX, Scooter…, but basketball has also been very protagonist. Framed for the first time in its history in this exciting urban sports event, the 3×3 Plaza Caixabank has landed with great force thanks to its abundant participation. Thus, the Parc del Fòrum has been able to enjoy the best basketball.

More than 200 participants and 50 teams registered for the tournament this weekend, as it was the first time that it was held on a double day, Saturday and Sunday. The desire to compete and have fun of the Mini, Children, Junior and Senior categories were the protagonists on the first day of the championship. Today, turn of the Pre-mini, Pre-infantil and Cadete categories. Their passion, energy and enthusiasm have taken over the courts of the Parc del Fòrum, where they have offered high level games.

New Olympic discipline

The 3×3 Plaza Caixabank has had its own space consisting of six courts, where it has been possible to enjoy two full days of 3×3 basketball, a modality that, for the first time, has been Olympic in the Tokyo 2021 Games. Thus, it has gone from being a little-known discipline to add, increasingly, more followers worldwide.

The public was able to feel first-hand the sensations transmitted by this sport, considered the number one among urban team sports. A dynamism and frenetic rhythm that have moved 3×3 basketball from the streets of the cities to the Olympics.

Likewise, the 3×3 Plaza Caixabank brought a breath of fresh air to Extreme Barcelona, while DJs and music helped to create an exciting and urban atmosphere around this exciting and innovative new Olympic discipline, which is here to stay and is growing at an impressive pace.
