• Movistar will support a new edition of Extreme Barcelona 2024, an event that brings together the best athletes in Skateboarding, BMX, Breaking and Scooter, among other sports.
  • The renewal of the agreement reinforces Movistar’s commitment to emerging sports, its contribution to the practice of sport and urban culture among young people.

Movistar renews as the official sponsor of the Extreme Barcelona Urban World Series, a world-renowned urban sports circuit that will be held at the Parc del Fòrum from 13 to 15 September.

This collaboration agreement reinforces Movistar’s commitment to emerging sports, its contribution to the practice of sport and urban culture among young people.

Furthermore, this renewal shows once again that Movistar’s connection with the sports universe is broad. The operator not only supports established athletes and mainstream disciplines, but also cares about promoting athletes who are just starting out. Its commitment is total and its support is allowing it to connect established figures and mainstream sports, with those who aspire to have a place in the difficult world of elite competition.

After being present at Extreme Barcelona in 2022 and 2023, Movistar will now be linked to this new edition, a benchmark for urban sports in Europe and internationally that was born in the Parc del Fòrum in 2008.

Urban sports, also known as street sports, are those that are practiced in urban spaces and do not require specific facilities or expensive equipment. Some popular examples of urban sports include Skateboarding, Inline Skating, Scooter, Parkour and BMX Freestyle (freestyle cycling).

The aim of Extreme Barcelona is to hold urban sports competitions at the highest level, with many athletes who will have competed only a few weeks before, and some of them will have won medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics: such as the gold medalist in Men’s BMX Freestyle, the Argentine José “Maligno” Torres and also the silver medalist, the British Kieran Reilly.

At this September event in Barcelona, the company will organise Cash4Tricks in the BMX, Skate and Scooter categories in the heart of the city: Plaza Universitat, the week before the event, on 12 September.

Cash4Tricks is a ‘jam session’ competition format where athletes must risk their best tricks and thus be instantly rewarded with cash.

Immediately after, the Movistar Open Party will also be held on 12 September at the Movistar Centre Barcelona, in Plaza Catalunya. There, the public will be able to enjoy an aperitif and the exclusive premiere of Skate, BMX and Scooter video parts.

And in addition, the Movistar Open Park will be built: a free space for skating, replicating the athletes’ tricks and enjoying urban sports such as: skate, scooter or BMX, holding small competitions in Best Trick format where fans will have the opportunity to amaze professionals with their best feats.
