Extreme Barcelona, one of the most emblematic urban sports events in Europe, celebrates its 16th edition with two big news: the celebration of the official Spanish and Catalan Breaking Championships.
For three days, the Urban Stage of the Parc del Fòrum will be the epicenter of this discipline, which will have been Olympic for the first time just a few weeks before, in Paris 2024.
An extraordinary show
Breaking is a dance that is part of the hip hop culture, along with graffiti, rap and djing. This element was born in the African-American communities of New York neighborhoods such as Bronx and Brooklyn, in the United States, in the 1970s.
Break dance is a commercial term used by the media to call this dance, but its original name is Breaking.
Currently, the recognition of Breaking as an Olympic discipline by the IOC and its inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have given it a new prominence after years of constant evolution.
