The Barcelona event will be the first in the world to host the Union Cycliste Internationale’s 2nd highest category for BMX Freestyle from September 4th to 6th.
Extreme Barcelona is set to become the first event on the planet to debut the prestigious Hors Class (HC) status from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, the festival will mark a historic milestone during its upcoming edition from September 4th to 6th by incorporating this new UCI category. The Hors Class seal was created to organize and classify competitions within the international calendar, granting a premium status to the most prominent events in BMX Freestyle.
A Recognition of Sporting Excellence
The Hors Class status is part of the UCI’s structure to identify international circuit events that meet the most demanding standards in organization, sports quality, and global positioning. With this recognition, Extreme Barcelona solidifies its place as the global benchmark chosen to launch this category, cementing BMX Freestyle as a key discipline within the action cycling scene driven by the international federation.

Elite Sports and Urban Culture at Parc del Fòrum
Extreme Barcelona is a fully established multi-sport event that blends the adrenaline of action disciplines with a vibrant festive and cultural atmosphere. In addition to BMX Freestyle, the line-up features high-level competitions in Skateboarding, Scooter Freestyle, Breaking, and 3×3 Basketball.
Its format combines official competitions where international riders fight for world ranking points alongside exhibitions and parallel activities open to the public. This mix of high-level technique and spectacular showmanship will turn Parc del Fòrum into the epicenter of the international urban scene for three days.
International Growth: Urban World Series
The event will bring together athletes from all over the globe, remaining a crucial stop on the Urban World Series circuit, which boasts venues in countries such as Malaysia, Portugal, and France. This special edition, highlighted by the debut of the UCI status, reaffirms the exponential growth of action sports and Barcelona’s leading role on the global stage.
