BMX

From September 5-7, 2025, the 17th edition of Europe’s most iconic urban sports event will be held at Parc del Fòrum with free admission, once again hosting Spanish riders of the Olympic discipline and crowning the best in the men’s, women’s, and junior categories.

Following last year’s success, the Spanish BMX Freestyle Park Championship will once again be held at Extreme Barcelona. Daniel Peñafiel, Teresa Fernández, and Javitxu de la Torre were crowned Spanish BMX champions at the 2024 edition of Extreme Barcelona. The five-time state champion reclaimed his title in style, defeating Jaime Francisco and Pol Díaz in the grand final. Teresa Fernández also managed to repeat her 2023 title, becoming the Spanish Champion ahead of Laura Carrera and Maialen Seisdedos. And in the junior category, Javitxu de la Torre will arrive as the reigning champion, having taken the title last year by defeating Mario Díaz and Darío de la Fuente in the grand final.

The BMX Freestyle Park competition will feature several of the world’s best riders, with specialists such as ‘Maligno’ Torres, Kieran Reilly, and Nikita Ducarroz taking part. The Swiss rider made history at Tokyo 2020, where she won the bronze medal in the inaugural Olympic edition of BMX Freestyle. Despite missing out on medals at Paris 2024, as Ducarroz failed to make it past the qualifying round and finished in tenth place, her level of performance remained unchanged, and she won the Extreme Barcelona 2024, a title she will try to retain in this year’s edition. Kieran Reilly will have the same goal. After triumphing at Extreme Barcelona 2024 with a victory at BXM Park, he will be back this year for more and will most likely give us a spectacular duel with ‘Maligno Torres,’ one of Extreme Barcelona’s longtime acquaintances, who will return to Barcelona in 2025, this time as an Olympic champion.

There will also be room for ParaBMX, the adapted and most inclusive BMX discipline. Jack Dumper won the competition in 2024, defeating Juanje Trujillo and Miguel Ángel Forigua.
