British rider <b data-path-to-node=\"29\" data-index-in-node=\"115\">Kieran Reilly<\/b>, a veteran of the Catalan event with six appearances under his belt, believes this recognition is well deserved: <i data-path-to-node=\"29\" data-index-in-node=\"242\">&#8220;I think it\u2019s amazing that Extreme Barcelona has been upgraded to a HC event. As a C1 I think it\u2019s been one of if not the biggest and for sure the most fun! Well deserved!&#8221;<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"30\"><b data-path-to-node=\"30\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Dylan Hessey<\/b>, who narrowly missed out on gold in 2025 finishing in second place, has his eyes locked on the top spot and the mathematical value of the weekend: <i data-path-to-node=\"30\" data-index-in-node=\"160\">&#8220;I think this contest being upgraded to HC class is amazing as I\u2019ll be needing as many crucial uci points as I can possibly get to give myself the best chance at making the LA games. This is my first HC event so it will be good to get the points. This isn\u2019t my first time here in Barcelona. I\u2019ve been coming here since 2015 and have made so many amazing memories along the way&#8230; It\u2019s all very different for me coming from a scootering background so this is my first Olympic cycle. For Colombia&#8217;s <b data-path-to-node=\"36\" data-index-in-node=\"140\">Camilo Hurtado<\/b>, the change is undeniable: <i data-path-to-node=\"36\" data-index-in-node=\"182\">&#8220;I&#8217;m really happy that there are now more events where we can earn points to qualify for the Olympic Games. The way I train and prepare has changed a lot. The level of BMX has improved so much; it&#8217;s not the same as it used to be&#8221;<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"37\">Other riders combine consistency with the search for better infrastructure.
